Today wasn't much either. I took it even easier. I'm feeling recharged, though and I'm ready to jump in head first. I've got the feeling that some major and wonderful things are around the corner. I'm feeling creative, I'm feeling inspired, the negativity of the last couple of months has fallen away and it's time to embrace the fall for once.

Here's to the "new chapter." And here's to the next one after that!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!

Yep, it's Mom's big day. I'm so happy for her. For the first time since I was a little-bitty baby, her life's on an even keel and things seem to be going well. She's beaten back the obstacles and come back stronger than ever. I find that inspiring. I didn't get to talk to her 'til the evening but it was great to hear her voice once I finally tracked her down. Here's to celebrating scores and scores more years' worth of birthdays together. (Thanks, Mom, for everything. I love you!)

Of course I took it easy today. I needed it. It's been a semi-busy and nearly-stressful week. I deserve a reward. So I went downtown and picked up a copy of the Pink Floyd Video Anthology. It's 3 DVD's that cover the period from 1967 to 1983. Of course, it's a bootleg but it's amazing quality and perfectly collectible.

Amanda and I watched bits and pieces of it in the evening while chowing down on food from Buck's...a new Italian place that we got take-out from. Lemme tell you...those cinammon sticks were A-MAZE-ING. If I had 'em everyday, I'd weigh 600 pounds but I'd be a happy guy (at least 'til I couldn't fit out the door to go get more).

Mike makes it possible for the show to go on in Athens!

Today was spent in slight panic regarding the show. All I want is to be able to pull it off. I'll consider it a MAJOR, MAJOR triumph and (dare I say it) a bit of a vindication if we get through okay. I kept juggling and rejuggling the probable set list. I wound up settling on something that plays it relatively safe but isn't a carbon copy of what we've been doing. Tonight is a delineation in the band. Everything before tonight was one thing. Everything starting today is another.

You know who Pete Best is? Tom Bavis does...

When we got there for load-in, the nerves fell away. If you want to hear the whole story in all it's gory detail, just click here. "You know your man is working hard..."

Well, nothing much to report today. I did get a few more things updated at the site but nothing you can't link to from yesterday's links. My concern right now is with tomorrow's show. I sent out our monthly band mailing today and our local invites. I put 'em up at My Space, too. So if you missed anything, you can catch up there.

Today I bit the bullet and got some heavy revamping done on the website.

There's a whole bunch of videos up on a new page devoted to just such stuff. Most will only be there temporarily, so if you want 'em, grab 'em. And many thanks to our friend Blue for recording and letting us use the results here. Check 'em out!

The photos page and links have also been completely redone. I still have to get the new Casual pics up but the rest are new and improved. Check 'em all out by clicking here.

The News / Press / Media / Bio page has been partially redone. It's still got a long way to go, though. Right now it's just our recent coverage. A lot more needs to be added before it's complete.

I'm glad some of it has been caught up. It's about time. There's still a lot more to do. I haven't even touched the Music section yet...

Today The Daily Show fallout kept on coming. Now several local newspapers want to do features on us. Too bad this didn't happen a few weeks earlier, we really could've used it to promote this Friday's show. It's just as well I guess. I'm still pretty nervous about how this one's going to work out. Still, The Athens Banner-Herald has offered to do a piece on us for December 1 and has asked me to do a "what are you listening to now" feature to go along with it. I think the Red & Black is going to do something on us, too! The press kit should be rocking by the time the new year rolls in. Plus, we've still got a CD review coming from Enigma!

The big news for today is that the CD is in stores. Now that we've got the FOR REAL pressing, I feel good about getting it out there. You can order online directly from AthensMusic.Net by clicking here. Or you can see which stores to buy from by clicking here. I decided to keep the list price below $10. So if you see it anywhere for more than that, let 'em know that they're breaking the rules! So Accept Your Joy today if you haven't done it already!

Happy Halloween from our friend Pumpakin!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Today was a bit strange for a Monday. Word got out (I wonder how) about our surprise Daily Show With Jon Stewart appearance last week. A lot of people thought it was a Halloween hoax but as you know, it was indeed a reality. I heard from a lot of people that just thought it was great. We agree.

Other than that, it was a relatively peaceful day. I mailed a whole slew of CD's out to people that have needed 'em for awhile. I can't wait to hear what they think.

Then in the evening, Amanda and I went for a Halloween dinner at Chili's. Normally, this is not my type of place but I gotta tell you, I got one of their pasta dishes tonight and it was absolutely wonderful.

Oh, the friendly little pumpkin you see was our acquaintance for the past week. His name is Pumpakin because he's got a little something extra. Amanda carved his face out of a little pie pumpkin. He joined us every evening to watch TV. He was quite a good companion, although he fittingly got scarier and scarier as it got closer to Halloween and his features began to sink in. What a gloriously ephemeral life that will leave a glowing memory for me and Amanda. "What a pumpkin!"

Click here for last week with McKayla, us on The Daily Show, reconvening and all the things I didn't do.
